NEW APPLICANTS - Read before posting!

Post by Bowick » 21 Apr 2013, 13:32

Thanks for your interest in The Raven Council. Here's a little information about us!

About the guild

The Raven Council on Defias Brotherhood is a long-standing guild with a good, solid community. We've been around since 2005 and have adapted to new expansions and players, so the guild won't spontaneously combust any time soon! Our focus in every expansion will be raiding and general PvE goodness, with a bit of PvP for those who enjoy it. We accept social applications as well as raider applications, please read below on how to apply.

PvE

The Raven Council strives to progress through all end-game content. If you're interested in raiding regularly, we currently field two raid groups, RG Raven (heroic) and RG Dodo (normal). If you'd like to apply as a heroic raider, please pick up the Raider application form. For social and normal raid applications, choose the Social form.

The Raid team RG Raven is a dedicated Raid group with committed members, it aims to clear all raids on heroic while they are current content, with the option to dip our feet into mythic. The group currently raids five to six hours per week, on Thursday and Monday evening. If this sounds like something for you, apply with the ‘Raider’ or ‘RG’ template.

The other raid team, RG Dodo, raids on Friday evening, is much more casual and will only ever raid normal. ‘Fun for all and alts’, it does not require you to commit every time, but more like sign up if you feel like going that week. If this is more your speed, apply as a social and just sign up for the individual raids.

PvP

The Raven Council doesn't currently have any official PVP teams but we do have some more PVP-oriented members. If you're interested in PVP, feel free to ask around, or if you're interested in leading something yourself, feel free to organize some new pre-mades/teams!

Timewalking

During the timewalking event, besides the 5-person groups that are constantly departing, we like to organize a fun expedition to clear the Timewalking raid, which is open to everyone who wants to come and is always a hilariously chaotic but joyful experience.

Discord

We have an active discord server, with a channel for just about everything. There are of course the raid signups, but if you feel like posting a RL pic or showing off your art or pets, you can do that too. If you’d like to discuss spoilers, there’s a channel for it, maybe a sports event that’s happening that you just have to talk about. During dungeon runs, you can join a voice channel with your group and the beauty of it is, that you could also do none of the above. It’s there if you want it, but being active on the discord server is not a requirement.

About our members (and possibly you)

You should be at least 16 years old to join the guild. The Raven Council strives to keep guild chat as mature as possible, but.. we can't guarantee it's always suitable for minors!

Maturity is something we value highly in our members. We treat each other as real living people and, even if we disagree at times, we afford each other the respect and understanding that we wouldn't always engage for.. I dunno, Ogres? Screw those guys. We like to think of the guild as a big group of friends more than just a collection of members. The harmony of our guild chat is very important to us. It's not the place for arguing or trolling - it's a place to unwind after a long day, to enjoy the company of like-minded people, and to experience the game with your fellow guildies.

We'd very much like to remain a well-respected guild on the server, so we expect our members to please show consideration and not act like complete twats towards other players in the game. If you're a self-confessed internet troll, this probably ain't the guild for you. ;)

Most of our members have lives outside of the game. We do not require you to spend any minimum amount of time online. All we ask is if you're going offline for a significant period of time (a few months or so) then you let us know. It's a big guild, so every so often we do need to purge very inactive characters in order to make space for fresh ones.

Character names

The Raven Council insists that all members obey the Realm policies at all times.
This of course applies to character names as well.

Blizzard's RP-realm Naming Policy
Violations include:
- Offensive language
- Non-medieval or non-fantasy names (for example: Slipnslide, Robotman, Technotron).
- Names that reference well known people, characters, places, or icons (for example: Britneyspears, Austinpowers, Mcdonalds, Georgewashington, Newyork).
- Names that consist of multiple words (for example: Inyourface, Welovebeef, Howareyou).
So no, we won't invite your alts named "beastpriest", "swagloljk" or "jonsnow", sorry. :]
For names that violate Blizzard's policy, you can usually 'turn yourself in', and get a GM to change it for you for free.

Applying to The Raven Council

If you've managed to read all of the above and still think we are the guild for you (and you are the member for us) then we would be interested in your application. To apply, simply create an account and start a new thread in this Recruitment Forum, using either the Social or the Raider application templates.

Once you've applied, please be patient. We require at least three officers to agree on any applicant, which can take a little while sometimes. If your application is accepted then you will be contacted in game, or in your application thread, so it helps if you subscribe to the thread.

And Finally

If you think we are the guild for you or not, we wish you the best of luck finding a home!
