[RG1] Monojira, Lv 80 Shadow Priest

Post by Monojira » 09 Mar 2025, 04:32

Heya, it's Mono!

Who is your character?
Monojira; Shadow Priest; Raider.io Profile
I've recently race-swapped to (Horde) Dracthyr not only because the customization options and hair styles of Visage are so much better but also because the mobility is great for Shadow Priest :D

Who are you?
My name is Tim but I go by Mono online in most places. I'm 32 y/o from Germany and generally just a chill guy.

Experience
Within WoW, I've started playing retail seriously with TWW as a group of my friends was looking to build up a raid team.
I've done AotC H8/8; N8/8 in Nerub'ar Palace and N8/8 Week 1 in Liberation of Undermine
Beyond the current retail expansion I've played a bit of Vanilla/Classic (also Shadowpriest) but most of my MMO/RPG experience lies within GuildWars & GW2 back in the day and for the last decade until two years ago I was a hardcore Destiny 2 raider with several Day One raids, "RWF" Top 100s etc. under my belt as well as years of raid & guild leading experience. WoW is my retirement game where I can relax a bit more and while I still have drive and passion to go deep into Heroic and potentially Mythic raiding down the line, I'm happy to just show up, play and have a good time.

Raid Role
I've been exclusively playing Ranged DPS so far. I gladly volunteer to do raid mechanics and usually have a good grasp of when to be where I need to be. I might not be the biggest pumper and mess up my rotation timings here and there but I try to make up for it with helping the team when I can. Shadow Priests are great for that as they offer a decent amount of active and passive support and I am aiming to improve at being as impactful as possible during every encounter. Additionally, I am happy to cover backup calls/reminders for mechanics without overpowering the raid lead and have learned how to communicate well inside a raid environment without being confrontational.

Your Spec
I've made the swap from Archon in TWW Season 1 to Voidweaver in TWW Season 2 and enjoy the change in dynamic a lot. I've prepped several different builds, four archon and three voidweaver, for all kinds of encounters. One active adjustment is swapping off mass-disspell in most encounters where the mechanic is missing and going into Essence Devour instead. In general, I am trying to get a lot of uptime for passive healing through that and Vampiric Embrace. Lastly, the main difference between the builds is the level of cleave. Shadow Priest is very single-target focused and relies on good awareness and DoT uptime that needs to be manually spread (or applied via Shadow Crash) to get passive AoE damage via Psychic Link. I'm still improving on having the optimal uptime across cleave-focused encounters but do generally pretty well in single target bossfights.

Off-specs and Alternative characters
I do play a Frost Mage and am learning how to play Warlock (Dest/Affliction) at the moment but with the new season start, my main focus will be on my Priest. I have zero experience with Holy or raid healing in general but did play Disc Priest in M+ keys before (although not very successful). I have that Range DPS mindset and positioning and healing is still a bit challenging for me. I try to keep my Mage geared for Normals and potentially Heroics should it be needed and I have played Fire Mage as well, although I do prefer Frost.

Communication
I primarily use Discord, have a professional-ish audio setup so generally there is no background noise and keep my comms clean. I did not know about these Forums until talking to Vaelyn about recruitment recently and I haven't really looked deeper into them but I have been on the TRC discord for a while now.

Combat Logs
WCL: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/character/ ... l/monojira
The recent LoU logs were incomplete due to internet disconnects from our Raid Lead.
I've personally not logged myself yet as logs were covered by others from my groups so far and I have not had the experience of actively analyzing my own gameplay or logs yet but I am very much interested in setting it up for TWW S2. I can provide the most recent three casual raids with the Dodos that I participated in, however:

Your UI
I am very heavily into UI optimization, from WeakAura to Plater I tweaked and twisted the buttons so they make sense to me, visually sorted everything where I need it and cleaned up to reduce clutter.

So first of all, my plater has a setting to highlight my current target by size. For Shadowpriest, I have two DoTs to keep track of: VT/SWP and DP. I can see which target has no buffs (brown), only VT/SWP (purple) and which one has both VT + DP. I need to know this, because the target with DP is my main target that receives the single target burst while it spreads to all targets with VT via Psychic Link. DP is also the one spell that consums my resource (Insanity) so I have that Insanity bar centered, with indicators at 45 and 55 (white lines) which are the two different DP costs for Archon or VW depending on the build. Above my Insanity Bar are my main insanity generators/single target spells with the burst CD spell (Dark Ascension/Void Erruption) in the middle. Below the bar are my buffs in the top row and my AoE/control spells below. My kicks are to the right (in this case, Silence was not talented but it would show up above Buffet) and my defensives and potions are below my healthbar. I have a focus target + target separation with debuffs on target shown as well. I use Cell as party frames with a few smaller customizations. I use a circular mouse cursor that I can find quickly and has a build-in global cd indicator. My utility cast bar is on the bottom and my spells are to the right above Details.

Guild History
I am technically an officer in the aforementioned group of friends (Speedfam) but most of the other players are part of bigger Mythic Raiding guilds and just have their alts in there so we can all play together, so it's not a serious WoW guild and leaving it with my main is no problem. I've not been with a raid team other than Dodos (or the 9-15 man raid runs I've done with Speedfam).

Raid availability
Both days are generally available to me. I work full time but am free in the evenings and additionally also on several weekends for other content/helping out/events.

References
My speedrunning friend group aren't the only people that urged me to join. Through casual Trackmania gameplay I learned of the guild through Vaelyn (and to that extend, Nax and Ada/Filadaria). I've watched Dodo raids through Vaelyn's streams since DF Season 3 and have joined about a handful of Dodo raids during TWW Season 1.

About you
I'd like to say that I am a chill person, genuinly very relaxed and mature but that doesn't mean I don't know how to have a little bit of fun. I can both take a joke and join in with a witty comment here and there and activate focus mode when needed. Outside of raiding ambitions I care a lot about transmogs and Vaelyn also got me hooked on the mount hunting. I try to stay up to date with changes/patches and am always happy to join casual events and social gatherings.

Miscellaneous
Not sure if it counts for anything but I got a Top 100 finish in TWW S1 Break The Meta across all Priests (World #35; Realm #4) and I love running M+ dungeons up to a certain level (S1 I ended with a 2707 Rating).

Also, I am not very attached to my realm but if possible, with the new changes to server layers, I would prefer not to immediately do a realm swap during trial unless deemed necessary. Same goes for race swaps as I've been a Horde player since Day 1 and I will get lost in Stormwind Castle :p
